ππ½ Likud Justice Minister Yariv Levin announces he would fire Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara if he could.
ππ½ The Knesset Finance Committee green-lighted 420 million shekels ($110 million) for more Haredi educational programs, including for schools not teaching core subjects such as English and math. Earlier this month, the committee approved 736 million shekels ($193 million).
ππ½ Likud stalwarts annoyed to learn that on Oct 31, when they expected PM Netanyahu to be campaigning on behalf of Likud candidates in municipal elections, he will be in China. Municipal elections are expected to convey a better picture of Likudβs political situation than polling. (Maariv)
ππ½ Head of think tank Kohelet Policy Forum Moshe Koppel quoted in the Wall Street Journal Friday saying about the judicial overhaul on which Kohelet had advised, βThe government did not prepare properly, it was rushed.β He echoed PM Netanyahuβs latest statement, that reconstituting the judicial reform committee was the last remaining business that needed to happen before reaching a compromise.
