๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝ The Supreme Court just issued an interim injunction against Likud Justice Minister Yariv Levin Thursday for his continued refusal to convene the judicial selection committee. Levin insists he wonโ€™t convene the committee until he can change its composition to make it more favorable to the Coalition. There are expected to be more than 50 open judicial position by the end of this year, and a backlog of open cases. Levin has requested to have the injunction annulled.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝ Jewish Power party, under National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, will not vote with the Coalition until more stringent Palestinian security prisoner rules are adopted. PM Netanyahu put the prison argument on hold until after the holidays, after an assessment that concluded that harshening the rules now would lead to a Palestinian escalation in violence. Ben Gvir, who declared his intention to stiffen prison consitions, had claimed that prisons were under his jurisdiction and that the Prime Minister didnโ€™t have the authority to overrule him on the issue. The Knesset is on recess until October 15.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿฝ Shas party leader Aryeh Deri, in an interview with Haredi Kikar Hashabbat, says the government should not advance judicial overhaul plan without consensus.
